i'm back... the long post...

hi peeps, i'm back from my short holiday from Bintan. even the holiday was short but it was fun. had a really fun experience over in Bintan. because we went to the rural side of Bintan and not to the mainstream of Bintan where everybody goes to.

we took a ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and took a 1.5hrs ride. lucky for me i got my buddies, PSP and iPod Touch for company. so the ride was considered short. once we're there, the resort staff took us to the resort. on the journey to the resort, i was looking out at the street and scenery of Bintan. since it's the rural area, i can't expect much but looking at it. really looks like the kampung days of Singapore.

once we check in the resort villa, we had lunch and explore around the resort. they had a mini zoo and a small plantation. while looking around their mini zoo, they got a trap that catches stray cats and got one cat was caught in the trap. then Gab decided to save the cat as he's a cat lover and is pretty poor thing also. anyone would had done the same also. after that rescue, the cat followed us till the plantation. why it stopped following us? because it found something more interesting than us. some wild food for it to catch and eat. after that we went back to villa to rest to go out at night at the supermarket to get some snacks and the street night hawkers.

before i start typing about the street hawkers, i gotta say about the drivers in Bintan at night. i gotta admit. i was scared. the way they drove, it was scary. imagine this. road is small, dark, only one lane and the other lane is for the other flow of traffic. and the driver was driving about 80 or 90 km/hr whether is it going down straight road or up road or at corner turns. it's always seemed to be the same speed. and the speedometer was broken!!!! drivers overtake by using the hazard signals and letting the opposite traffic that we're coming from uphill, driver high beams to signal. there was a couple of times that the driver was using the hazard signal using his left hand and high beaming with his right hand. then who's stirring!?!?!

we're glad that we managed to survive in one piece for that night. okie, moving on, street hawkers at night. it was quite refreshing. i mean, all of us eaten at hawkers before but this was different. just like the 1960s, where you sit freely and everything was cheap. we spent like less than $30 on food that can feed the 5 of us!! a plate of char kway teow was like $1 and it was nice. 2 bowls of bak ku teh with all kinds of pig's organs in it. it was fantastic.

2nd day was a bit disappointing as we thought we could go shopping according to our planned itinerary. their biggest mall over there was the size of Lot 1 or West Mall like that. business wasn't that good over there at all either. then we headed for lunch. we ate indon nasi padang. we sat in a long table and they served us all their dishes they had. and they charge us for what was eaten and those dishes that were untouched was not charged at all. overall was quite nice. then at night we had our dinner in the kelong. we had a feast there. 4 crabs, 1 steam fish, 1 fried egg, 1 deep fried chix, 1 veg , 1 sambal sotong and 1 plate of prawns. all for $90. it was damn nice.

after the kelong dinner, we thought we could watch the Arsenal vs Manchester Utd game. instead, they didn't have the channel at all. all depended on GPRS or my half time full time scoreline.

on our last day, we went for a swim and our spa treatment. it was GREAT! the spa was what my body needed. i felt lighter after the spa. then soon, we have check out already. overall my short trip was ended like that. the next post will be photos and videos. if you don't understand the videos it's okie... all are inside jokes between the 5 of us.
